The delicately coloured artwork of a crayfish on this long irregular platter was created by Louis Renard for his 1719 publication “Poissons, écrevisses et crabes…”. The artwork has now been interpreted on an earthenware platter using a combination of techniques including hand-sponging, painting and pipette drops that result in a stunning multi-layer montage.
